The weekend, briefly

Reading.

reading
{Over My Head by Claudia Osborn}

Sharing the bed with the big red guy.

mick
{Irish terriers are not particularly good at sharing}

A sadly collapsed pie crust (I have no idea what went wrong).

collapsed crust
{I'm blaming it on the weather}

The first apricots of the season.

apricots
{not quite ripe, but still hard to resist picking}

And the best news...

walking
{standing on two feet!}

after six months of determined fighting and many, many surgeries, someone is finally up and walking again, with just a little bit of help!

  8. This is great news! I just read the story re: the accident and am horrified that he was hit while bicycling -- So sad!

    This motivates me to get more involved with reforming the transportation bill to make it safer for bicyclists --

  30. Rachel, wonderful news about your stepfather! Who has the adorable irish terrier? My husband wanted one until we got our Kelly (lakeland). As for the pie, beauty is always in the eye of the beholder. I bet it tasted wonderful. xoxo

  37. Such good news about your step-father Rachel, i read your post about the accident, he must be so over joyed to be back on his feet. Your pie looks fine, after all, the rustic look in cookery is quite in vogue, (as long as it tasted nice, that's the main thing!). Wow you have apricots, how exciting that you have these growing - I have fruit growing envy!
